State of the nation

After 23 years, West Sussex County Youth Theatre, as we know it,  will close in April 2012 due to funding cuts.  The County Council have been fantastic supporters over the last two decades but sadly the company cannot continue when the funding is withdrawn.

There are currently plans for Chichester Festival Thaetre to increase their support for Youth Theatre and enable members of WSCYT to benefit from their company and events, but the detail of this is not yet confirmed.

WSCYT's final production will be Brecht's Epic Theatre masterpiece.  Directed by Toby Wilsher and performed in a non theatre space, this production will feature mask, puppetry and music.  The play was cast in Autumn and rehearsals begin early in January.  It is hoped that the company will perform in a pop-up theatre space in Crawley during the week beginning 12th March.

This is your final opportunity to be part of something extraordinary.  There is an excellent cast and we hope it to be another very exciting project.

See Current Projects for more info.

We work with professional directors, writers, designers & choreographers and perform in professional theatre venues throughout Sussex and beyond. WSCYT have performed at all the major venues in the county, toured within the UK and to Europe, performed at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe and been selected to perform at the National Student Drama Festival in Scarborough on two occasions

Recent successes include Antigone, Spring Awakening and Ash Girl.

The company have recently moved to the Old Children's Library in Woodfield Road, Crawley.  Tucked between The Crawley Police Station and the County Fire Service we use the old library building and the Woodfield Annex.
